India Vs England 1st ODI: Winning start for India

India 300 for 7 (Dhoni 87*, Raina 61) beat England 174 (Cook 60, Jadeja 3-34) by 126 runs

Hyderabad: Quick exit of the Chennai Super Kings in the Champions League T20 must not have gone down well with their fans but it appears to have done a world of good for the Indian Team. The defeat gave captain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina a few extra days of rest and the re-energized Super Kings came back with a bang as India began the five-match ODI series against England with a echoing 126-run win in the first match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, here on Friday.

Chasing 301 on this wicket was not going to be a simple, as the English batsmen found this a complete disappointment. Skipper Alastair Cook (60 runs from 63 balls ,7×4) and Jonathan Trott (26 runs from 42 balls) raised hopes of a fight with a 71-run stand for the second wicket but once Cook was deceived by left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja the game was more or less over.

The spin duo of Jadeja (3/34) and offie R Ashwin (3/35) exposed the Englishmen’s weakness against the slow bowlers as they unite their magic to swindle the English middle-order. England were spun out for 174 with 13.5 over’s to spare as the hypothetically weak Indian attack proved more than enough for the visitors. In the process, India won their first game on this ground in four attempts.

Earlier, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina, who haven’t had a good series in England, put away their blues as they struck effortless half-centuries to help India post 300 for seven. MS Dhoni was as hungry as ever and he took a heavy toll of the English attack, which till the 35th over looked threatening but faltered under the severe onslaught. The last 15 over’s yielded 150 runs as the Indians, especially MS Dhoni, went berserk, remaining unbeaten on a sparkling 87 runs off 70 balls with 10 fours and a six while Raina had hammered 61 off 55 balls with five hits to the fence and two over it.

ODI broadcast delayed as Government-Neo Sports tussle:

The live broadcast of the first India Vs England ODI match from Hyderabad was delayed by three over’s on Thursday because right holders Neo Sports Broadcast Private Limited which shows the matches live on its channel Neo Cricket and the government were locked in a tussle over payment issues. This resulted in delayed permission for up linking facilities.

The screens showed no coverage due to technical issues as the pre-match show was extended, depriving feed from the first 15 minutes of the game to the rights holders, Doordarshan (INDIA), Sky TV (Britain) and affecting live streaming on the BCCIs website too.
