BCCI one-time payment benefit denied to Kapil Dev & Kirti Azad
Kapil Dev has been left out of the list of former cricketers due to receive the one-time monetary benefit by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the former India captain has said officials of the Cricket Board are the “boss” and it’s their call to make any decision they want.
BCCI has decided not to give former cricketers Kapil Dev, Azharuddin and Kirti Azad the benefit of a one-time payment scheme.The decision on Kirti Azad was taken after his protest fast outside the Ferozeshah Kotla ground over what he called financial irregularities in the Indian Premier League.
Kirti Azad was supposed to get around Rs.50 lakh through the scheme, has expressed unhappiness over the way the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL are functioning in violation of the laws of the land.
Kapil Dev said, ” They are the boss. Let them do whatever they want to do. What is the point about talking on this matter”.
In 1983 World Cup winning captain was not invited by BCCI for the functions at the four IPL venues where it is set to honour former cricketers with cheques for their services o Indian cricket.
Kapil Dev played 131 Tests and 225 Ond-Day Internationals for India and is rated among one of the greatest a;;-rounders to have played the game. He is entitled to get 1.5 crore from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as per scheme.
Kapil sais,”Iam a content person and these things will now bother me. I enjoyed playing for India and that is it. I do not have to do anything more. I do not feel comfortable in talking negative. I am a very positive person and I do not have to talk about negatives.
“I wish BCCI all the best. They will not come to me they are the Board. Let them do whatever they want to do. What is the problem in that? Try to understand that if they want to do something let them do”.
